Volunteer

Volunteers are the Heart of Safe Haven

Every year volunteers help us respond to:

  • Hotline calls
  • Provide support to victims and survivors
  • Advocate for victims and survivors in court, hospitals, and community settings

Our community volunteers are helping staff events, raise awareness, fundraise for Save Haven, and collect donations.

With the help of volunteers, we are able to continue to provide free services on a 24-hour basis to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Volunteering with our agency is an opportunity to become an active part of the ending violence against women movement. Volunteering is also a great experience that can help strengthen your resume.

Volunteer Levels

Training and Other Requirements

Volunteers are required to complete a free training course provided by Save Haven, depending on what level of volunteering they chose. Training sessions are offered several times throughout the year. Our 40-hour training is a very extensive training and topics can include the history of violence against women, trauma informed care, domestic violence, sexual assault, mental health, listening skills, and more.

To become a volunteer with Safe Haven, you must complete a background check prior to volunteering. Some levels of volunteering will require a working phone, email, and reliable transportation.
